Notes
a. Note:   OBITUARY. Source unspecified William T. INNESS , youngest son of John and Rebekah INNESS, was born on a farm near Shelby, Nebraska on May 28, 1886 [Preparer's Note: William was really born in 1885, proven by his listing in the household of his parents in the Nebraska 1885 Census at the age of one month], and passed away at the Annie Jeffrey Hospital at Osceola, July 29, 1962. On April 5, 1911 he was united in marriage to Mary E. McMeekin. To this union were born four daughters. His wife and two daughters, Tena and Mariam, preceded him in death. He is survived by his two daughters, Mrs. Wendell Carter of St. Louis and Mrs. George Sneath of Tonawanda, New York, four grandchildren, two son-in-laws and two sisters, Mrs. Tena CARLSON of Blair, Nebraska and Mrs. Nina MCKEAG of Osceola, Nebraska. William a was quiet, unassuming man. He attended his Church at Shelby faithfully as long as his health permitted. He was a kind and loving father and brother, very patient and uncomplaining during all his many years of suffering and loneliness. He has gone to his Eternal Home and is At Rest. He lived at the Covenant Home in Stromsburg the last twelve years. Services were conducted in the Methodist Church in Osceola by Rev. Hankins at 2 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 1, 1962. Escorts were George INNESS, Homer INGALLS, William R. YOUNG, Willis MCMEEKIN, Dale MCMEEKIN, and John INNESS. Interment was in the Shelby Cemetery.

Note:   Evidence for William's birth year conflicts. His death certificate, obituary, and gravestone information are provided by his sister Nina Inness McKeag, and report his birth year as 1886. However, more contemporary evidence, such as the 1885 Nebraska census and the 1900 U.S. Census for Nebraska say his birth year is 1885.
