Note: "Noel [Mullendore] has a private law practice at Howard and also served as attorney for the Kansas Forestry, Fish and Game Commission for more than 20 years. During the years Noel worked for the state, he held a commission as Assistant Attorney General of Kansas for 41 years. I might add that it was large through Noels' efforts that the Fish and Game Commission developed so many recreation areas in Kansas. And since his retirement he is sorely missed." ----Ellen Hamar Doubek, 1974 ___________________________________________________ "Noel Mullendore married (first) Phyllis De Pew, daughter of Dr. Frank L. and Grace V. De Pew....She died young. Noel married (second) in 1934, Gertrude Hamar, daughter of Batey and Livona (Roth) Hamar.....Noel, a graduate of Washburn University, established a law practice in Howard and also managed the Mullendore ranch. the ranch was sold in 1951. He as Assistant State attorney for 41 years and served several terms as City attorney for Howard. He was chairman of the local school board and active in organizing the Elk County Livestock Men's Association. Gertrude is the only Hamar descendant remaining in Elk County. She is civic minded and active in many community affairs; a few are the Howard Library Board, American Cancer Society, the Elk County Historical Society and the Howard Museum.
