"They [Bate and Livona (Roth) Hamar] had two daughters, Clarice who compiled this history and Gertrude. Both girls taught in the Howard schools. (1) Clarice Hamar later taught music in Illinois. She married Gilbert Waller, a university professor in Champaign, Ill., and author of several sets of music method books....(2) Gertrude Hamar married Noel Mullendore of Howard."

Two years after Clarice's wedding, Gertrude was married to Noel Mullendore, a Howard native [June 18, 1934]. They always have made their home in Howard. Gertrude is the only member of the Hamar family to have been born in Howard and lived her entire life there.

Noel has a private law practice at Howard and also served as attorney for the Kansas Forestry, Fish and Game Commission for more than 20 years. During the years Noel worked for the state, he held a commission as Assistant Attorney General of Kansas for 41 years. I might add that it was largely through Noel's efforts that the Fish and Game Commission developed so many recreation areas in Kansas. And since his retirement he is sorely missed.
There are 6 descendents of Bate Hamar.
