  Married at 19 to George Washburn who had come to Turkey to become Treasurer of the Board. Eventually she was connected to Robert College and she was devoted to the students. Subsequently a social hall at the College was named for her. She survived her husband by more than 12 years.
  According to American Board of Missions Register of Baptisms, Vol. I, Entry #31 states that she was baptized 31 May 1840 at Pera-Istanbul by Wm. Goodell. Her name is shown on this record as Henrietta Loraine Hamlin.
