Note: Ike Smith, of Dexter, MO, the Great Grandson of Stewart Hanks told me that his Great Grandfather was a doctor and that he was bitten by a snake and died four days later. He had gone out the Pyletown to check on a woman who was pregnant and on the way back a snake struck him in the back side while he was on his horse. He doesn't know when he died or where he is buried. The 1870 Stoddard County Census confirms that he was a physician. He was not in the 1880 Census, so he must have died between 1870 & 1880. Info. on Martha C. Hanks, Vital Statistics 1852-1862 Hopkins Co. Kentucky gives date of birth and parents lists as Sturt Hanks and M.E.C. Almon. Margaret E. Caroline Almon Hanks died of Consumption according to the Kentucky Vital Statistics 1852-1862, in July 1855. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1850 Hopkins Co.
