a. Note:   According to some notes, Benjamin Hanks, son of Joseph, is said to have been the Benjamin Hanks who, with his wife Abigail, migrated to New England in 1699.
  According to an entry in a notebook of his friend, Richard White, Benjamin "came from London (October 17, 1699." He landed at Plymouth, MA and settled in the western part of Duxbury which part later, in 1712, was established as the town of Pembroke. Very soon after his arrival in New England, in 1700 when he was 35, Benjamin married Abigail Heiford, aged 21 at Braintree, MA.
  Six months after Abigail died, he married Mary Ripley, widow of William Ripley. She was close to 50 and Benjamin was 62.
  It is said he died in the ninetieth year of his age (Easton records)
