Note: Joseph Hanley is believed to be the son of Nicholas and Magdalina Hanley. His birth took place after the 1860 census was conducted. His birth was stated as Water town, Dane, Wi. on his daughter, Josephine's death record. Joseph Hanley and Anna are found in the 1900 Wisconsin Census for Sun Prairie, Dane, Wisconsin. Joseph Hanley and Anna married around 1890 and by 1900, they owned their own farm in Sun Prairie, Dane. The family consisted of Joseph, Anna, and children: Sonerette or Savia, Celia, Luanna or Leona, Josephine (death in 1900), and Catharine. Three other children were reported deceased previous to 1900. The family had a servant living with them in 1900. His name was John Gersheth who was born on Dec. 1883 in Wisconsin. The family farm was located between the estates of the Kruse and Yelke farms in 1900. Also found was the birth of Alsoia Hanley a white female. Her birth was listed as Nov. 29, 1898 in Sun Prairie. She was delivered by Mrs. Kunrow. There was only one parent listed on her birth record and that was Joseph Hanley (farmer). The mother is listed as unknown. It is stated on this record that the child lacks other siblings. Josephs wife, Anna Hanley was widowed in 1909. She is found living in Sun Prairie, Dane on the family farm on Cross Road in 1910. Her single daughters: Savia, Celia, Luenna, and Catherine live with her. William Fry age 22 of Wisconsin is a hired man living in. Anna states that only 4 of her 8 children are now living. Her farm is located between neighbors: William Kruse, and John Blask. In 1920, Anna age 53, has moved and lives in a rental unit at N. Livingston St. 414 in Madison, Wi. between the Burgias and Gilman families. Living with her at this time are daughters: Celia, Liona, and Catherine. Also living in the household is Margaret Bird born 1836, age 84. a widow from Ireland. Margaret's immigration is listed as 1849. The Birds were neighbors in Sun Prairie, Dane. Wi. Anna probably took Margaret Bird into her household as a source of income. In 1900, Margaret Bird lived in Sun Prairie, Dane. Her birth is listed as April 1840 in Ireland. She owned her own home at this time. She has an adopted daughter living with her named Cundigante Agnes Bird. Cundigante's birth took place on Jan. 1887 in Wisconsin, as listed. Her parents were said to be from Bohemia. Also boarding with Margaret Bird is Marny Casey born Nov. 1876 in Wisconsin. A teacher by trade.
