Note: #8 Charles Washington Parker (19 December 1847 - 21 February 1922) Charles Washington Parker was born on 19 December 1847 1 in Accomack County, Virginia to Revell Parker Jr. and Harriett Parker.6 According to the 1850 Federal Census, he lived with his parents, twin brothers John R. and Edward T. 7 years old and a sister Betsy 4 years old. Charles was 2 years old when the Census was taken on 21 August 1850 in St. George Parish, Accomac County, Virginia. Charles served as a private in the Civil War until 1865 after the surrender of Robert E. Lee. He entered the Independent branch, Signal Corps Regiment, First Company through the Isle of Wight County, Virginia in 1863. His immediate superior officers were Major Joseph F. Milligan and Captain N. H. Small. Charles was sixty-six years old when he applied for his pension on 30 January 1914 and lived at Post office Oyster Point, Warwick County. His occupation was oysterman with an annual income of $100.00 and owned $60.00 in personal property. Charles claimed he owned no real estate. He received an annual pension of $28.80 from the State of Virginia. Charles states on his pension papers that he lived in Warwick County for sixty years, therefore his parents moved from Accomack County to Warwick County when he was ten years old.7 He married Ann Rebecca Turlington on 1 January 1876 according to Jane Parker Justice. There were fifteen children from this marriage with ten living in 1910 and they were married 34 years. They lived on Turlington Lane, Newport District, Warwick County, Virginia. Charles was 62? and Ann was 50. They had three daughters living with them, Roda 22 years old, Bundy 13 years old and Burtha 8 years old. Also living with them was their son-in-law, Thomas Haywood, 31 years old, a widow, granddaughter Mary Haywood 8 years old and grandson Stanley Haywood 4 years old. Charles W. occupation is listed as a farmer.5 According to the 1920 Federal Census, Charles was 68 and living alone. He did own his property free and clear. He was a widow and his occupation as oysterman.5 Charles died 21 February 1922, 10:30 P.M., in Newport Magister, Warick County, Virginia J. B. Parker (probably his son Joseph), informant, gave his age as sixty-five years two months. His occupation as a shoe maker, his father Revel R. Parker, born in Accomack County, Virginia, his mother as Harid Ann Parker born in Accomack County Virginia. He died from Chronic Inlrostitue? and kidney problems. He was buried in Denbigh, Virginia - where unknown (probably Denbigh Baptist Church as this is where his wife Ann is buried), funeral director Smith and Son, Morrison, Virginia. 1.
