Note: Obituary for James Searle Sims June ..,1957 James S. Sims Native of Kansas The Journal's Idaho News Service BLACKFOOT - Funeral services for James S. Sims, 57, Blackfoot, will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Elks Lodge with James Baird, exalted ruler in charge. Mr. Sims was born Jan. 10, 1900, in Kansas and lived there. He was an electrician and had been employed by Western Union, Santa Fe Railroad and for many electrical firms and contractors in Kansas, Colorado, Texas, California and Utah prior to making his home in Blackfoot in 1947. He had been employed at the National Reactor Testing Station but was currently employed by C-L Electric Co. in Pocatello. He was stricken with a heart attack two weeks ago and was hospitalized at the Bingham Memorial Hospital. He was seemingly showing good recovery when he died unexpectedly Monday afternoon. He married Gwendolyn Mann Oct. 20. 1934, in Logan, Utah. She and there three sons survive; Eric Sims with the U.S. Navy in San Francisco, Allen, 13 and Cort 11, Pocatello. A daughter Patricia, 11 died in a swing accident Sept. 9, 1952. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. 1416 of Blackfoot and a former member of the Masonic Order. He was a member of the electrical union in Pocatello. Friends may call at the Sandberg Funeral Home until Thursday noon, the at the Elks Lodge from 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Grove City cemetery, Blackfoot.
