William's birthplace still conjecture, this based on 1870, 1885 KS census and a near fit from the 1810 Northampton PA (Lower Saucon) census, no proof, neighbors there included Remley and Wise. Birthdate from Bible record. SEE: Evelyn Brown correspondence. Bible record: Mrs. Brown of San Louis Obispo CA corresponded with Lelia Ball of Downey CA who obtained the Bible record from Myra E. Sims, previously wife of LEWIS SIMS (son of William and Francis Cahoon Sims). The Bible record that Lelia gave Mrs. Brown was obtained from Florella Ball Church, who copied the information from her Grandmother's, Florella (Sims) Ball's Bible. Myra E. Sims was of Rt 4, Stafford KS. Myra married Jacob D. Abrahams 29 Mar 1948 at Newton KS. Last letter from Myra was ca 1950. Evelyn Brown forwarded a copy of a letter from Lewis Sims, qv. Besse. Peace Creek Cemetery in Reno Co KS [Little River about 30 miles ne of this cemetery] 1885 PO said Nickerson which is SE Washington twp. Lillie says the desc of Perry called William Sims "The Ol Granpa" when he came to visit. Rice County: Sterling was called Peace. It was originally a Quaker settlement, Lyons is a mile north of the old Atlanta, which was founded after Peace, but on the Santa Fe Trail. At one time there was a small community west of Atlanta, referred to as the Ohio settlement because most of their members had come from a community in OH. William and Frances appear to have lived SE of Atlanta, nearer Nickerson.
[ne: 7 Aug 2000 is this a correction? from Lillie: Atlanta was the forerunner on Lyons, located 1 mile south & 1/2 mile west. Everything was moved to Lyons. Sterling used to be named Peace, in the same place as now. It was settled by Quakers.]
