Volume 704, p 33. A Blessing pronounced by Patriarch James P. Christensen July 29, 1921 upon the head of Sarah Helen Garfield, daughter of John Green and
Sarah M. Alexander, born at Mona, Juab Co., Utah Aug. 23, 1869.
Sister Garfield in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the authority of the holy Priesthood, do I confer upon you a Patriarchal Blessing, and Dear
Sister in as much as you feel the need of this blessing, and that you will make
it part of your life, and in all humility ask God to aid and assist you to live
for this blessing, it will be a great comfort and joy unto you. You are of the
House of Israel the Lineage of Ephraim and your are one of the choice jewels of
Our Heavenly Father. And you were faithful in the spirit world and for this
cause you have been sent here upon the earth In the day and age when the Gospel
is here and the Lord has been kind unto you, has given you understanding about
the Gospel. He has blessed you with a bright mind and with sufficient will
power to carry out the desires of your heart. Therefore Dear Sister be
thankful to God the Eternal Father and be humble and prayerful and be obedient
to the Priesthood that is set to preside over you. And be willing to labor in
any capacity that may come to you through the servants of the Lord. Always be
in harmony with the work of the Lord, and store your mind with useful
knowledge. And thereby you will be fit and prepared to carry out that great
responsibility that is placed upon you even to rear your family and to teach
them the principles of the everlasting Gospel. The greater the effort that you
put forth, The stronger you will be, And the happier you will be. Because the
Lord God will let his angels take charge concerning you. And they will let his
spirit be an abide with you, so there shall be no obstacles come in your way
but what you shall have power to overcome them. And be able to accomplish the
mission that is before you in mortality. Therefore be happy and look upon the
bright side of life and associate with your brethen and sisters in the various
capacities they meet together. And your labors shall be sought for your
counsel shall be wanted and the Lord God he will open the windows of heaven
unto you, So that you shall have sufficient of both spiritual and temporal
blessings, so that you shall never want. Therefore look upon the trials of
life as blessings in disguise it will only help you to more fully appreciate the blessings of the everlasting Gospel. Shun the very appearances of evil and
do not listen to anyone that may come to you to try to lead you astray, nor to
try to imprint within your mind false doctrines or principles. But Dear Sister
if you are humble and prayerful, you shall have power to withstand the snares
of the evil one. And you shall see the day, that your family will grow up and
praise thee for the labors that you have done for them. And in your old age,
you shall be happy and you shall bear testimony to many of the wonderful
blessings that God has bestowed on you and your posterity. When opportunity
presents itself before you go to the temples of Our God and get the spirit of
temple work. And the day will arrive for you that you shall stand as a Savior
upon Mount Zion, Both to the living and to the dead. And you shall live and
enjoy life, until you have filled the measure of your creation, And until you
are satisfied with life. And your associates here in life will rejoice because
of your faithful labors and the kind assistance that you have give to them.
Through your faith and faithfulness in the Lord these blessings are yours, And
I seal you up against the destroyer to the day of redemption, And you shall
have a glorious resurrection and be as a queen and mother, And rule and reign
with your posterity, In the kingdom of Our God through all Eternity which I
seal upon you, In the name of Jesus Christ even so Amen.
