Note: Obituary: Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Mae Epperly, 92, 310 SE 2nd Ave., Aledo, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Reiser Funeral Chapel, Aledo. The Rev. Kenneth DeWall, pastor of the Buffalo Prairie United Presbyterian Church, officiated and burial was in the Millersburg Cemetery. Mrs. Epperly died at 5 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at the home of her daughter, Mrs Lee McNeal, Rt. 3, Aledo. The former Ethel Mae Sperlin was born May 27, 1880, in Eliza Township, a daughter of George and Susie Sloan Sperlin. She attended the Center School and also Francis Shiner Academy at Mount Carroll. On Oct. 24, 1889 she was married to Hamilton H. Epperly in Rock Island. He died Oct. 27, 1931. The couple had farmed north of Joy and Mrs. Epperly later moved to Aledo. She was of Protestant faith and was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. McNeal, Rt 3, Aledo and Mrs. Evert Hays of Joy, five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.
