Notes
a. Note:   r Co., Akron, Ohio. His interest in music (he played the cornet) and at one time ran away and joined a carnival, which went broke and father Michael had to rescue him. This musical interest lead him to organize the first Goodyear Boys Band. Some seventy members strong, these boys played concerts, and took part in many plant and civic affairs.  DW's remembrances: Uncle Carl was my favorite uncle. So many of the Wiland men were mean spirited. Carl was a very kind, gentle person. His brothers often poked fun at him because his job with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company did not pay as well as some of the jobs the others had. However, when Uncle Carl passed away, he had so many friends that it took a number of police to control the large number of people who came to the funeral home. I remember loving to visit and spend the night with him and Aunt Maude. At that time the television program "I Love Lucy" was very popular, and we would watch it together. He even enjoyed the "Lassie" programs and would get tears over the sad parts.
Note:   Note by Ray Burton, son in law: Carl was a tire builder at Goodyear Tire and Rubbe
