a. Note:   My Dad, John Edward Kee, told that he was born in a log cabin with cracks between the logs that you could throw a cat through. (Was he kidding or what?) His family left the Jacksonville/Springfield, Illinois area June l, 1886 with two horse drawn covered wagons, arriving August lst.
  When Dad and Mom were married they farmed land 3 miles northwest of Humboldt, where they lived one year. They farmed near Pawnee City for 8 years and in February, 1916 came to Holt County, settling 9 miles northwest of O'Neill, Nebraska. They lived there 39 years. Upon retirement, moved to O'Neill and resided at 705 East Clay Street.
