a. Note:   I and was stationed on Corregidor Island in the Phillipines. He was captured in May of 1942 by the Japanese and held prisoner of war until September 1945. Upon liberation he had lost 100 of his 165 pounds while held captive. He was one of a little over 400 out of 1600 or so men who survived the voyage on the Oryoku Maru which transported prisoners from the Phillipines to Japan. The journey lasted 47 days.
Note:   Enlisted in the United States Army in 1940. He served in the 59th Coast Artillery during WWI
