  Obituary November 15, 1922: J.M. LINDBLAD FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY AFTERNOON The funeral services of Jonas Magnus Lindblad, whose death occured on Wednesday evening last week, of which we made mention in our last issue, was held from the home, northwest of Orion, at 2:00 Sunday afternoon, and at the Orion Lutheran Church at 2:30. Rev. A. D. Fredeen delivered a most able sermon to the large audience of sorrowing friends in attendance. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery. Jonas Magnus Lindblad was born at Melby, Sweden, August 18, 1841, and at death was 81 years, 2 months and 27 days of age. The departed immigrated from Sweden in 1867, and settled in Andover, Ill. In 1877 he settled, with his family, in the Orion community, becoming a member of the Lutheran Church of this place the same year, and had been one of out most highly estemmed residents.
 On November 23, 1868, he was united in marriage to Maria Charlotta Carlson, at Altona Ill., and to this union was blessed eight children. Mrs. Lindblad preceded her husband in death on July 26, 1920. Mr. Lindblad ws a loyal member of the Orion Lutheran Church and for more than a quarter of a century he was secretary of the local congregation. Those who new him best will testify that his life was consistent with his faith.
 The folowing children and near relatives are left to mourn his departure: Mrs. Oscar Hanson, Moline; Mrs. Elmer Cask, Orion; Carl, Lydia, Elenora and Edwin, of Orion, and Reuben , of Rock Island. Two sisters, Mrs. Louise Holmstrom, Harcourt, Iowa, and Mrs Caroline Burkgren, Dayton, Iowa, also five grandchildren.
  Rented 241 1/2 acres in Western Township section 18. Owner was E. Ward (page 379 land record Henry County Courthouse) Naturalization papers signed June 12, 1883. Witnesses were Otto Anderson and A.P. Frittioff.
  Birth record from Micro film #135550 Melby, Jonkoping, Sweden pg. 79. Lived on a farm called Ustorp as a child (from C.S. #125540 B pg. 159 and worked as a farmhand (drang) as a young man in the 1850's. In 1859 he moved to Soraby, a farm also in Melby.
