Note: d passed to her Heavenly reward at her home in Dayton, following a brief illness, last Thursday, July 9, l93l, having reached the ripe age of 84 years, d2 months, 2l days. She was reared to young womanhood in the land of her birth, and at the age of l9, came to America and settled in Andover, Illinois, in company with her mother, brothers and sisters. Of this family of nine brothers and sisters, she was the last to be called to her Eternal Home. On April 2, l875, she was united in marriage to John Lawrence Bjorkgren, who preceded her in death on October l5, l9l3. To their union were born eight children, of whom a daughter, Esther, passed away in l9l8. Seven children, four sons and three daughters, survive to mourn the mother's passing: Mrs. Axel Gustafson, Ed Bjorkgren, Mrs. Claude E. Anderson, Frank Bjorkgren, Mrs. Oscar Abrahamson, and Martin and Obed Bjorkgren all of this community. In addition, she is mourned by fifteen grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. All these mourn the passing of a true and devoted mother, friend and neighbor. Mrs. Bjorkgren came to Dayton with her husband in l875 and lived on the old farm southwest of Dayton. After her husband's passing, she came with her family to Dayton in l9l8 where she has since lived. Mrs. Bjorkgren has bee a faithful member of the Lutheran church for many years. She loved the House of God, and came to worship in this temple as long as she was able. The Word of God was the daily manna in her home. As one of the early settlers of our community, she has seen much of its history, and now goes to join the honored pioneers, who, one by one have been passing away from the scene of their earthly labors. Her funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon from the Lutheran Church in charge of Rev. D. Verner Swanson of Gowrie, assisted by Mr. Arthur Pearson. Six nephews served as pall bearers. Her remains were laid beside her husband in Dayton cemetery. They join again for their reward of faithful Christian lives.
