a. Note:   r 2l, l949, and slept away at her home in Harcourt, on Monday evening, October 6, l930, at the age of 80 years, l0 months, l5 days. Her childhood was spent in the homeland, and came to America with her parents in l866, settling at Andover, Illinois. There she was united in marriage to Jonas Peter Holmstrom, March ll, l868, who preceded her in death August l6th last. Together they lived sixty-two and a half years, and the glad reunion came in less than two months of separation. In March, l928, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. To them were born nine children, three of whom preceded them in death. Six children, three sons, and three daughters, survive to mourn the memory of a loving mother, so soon after parting with the also loving father: M. Alfred Holmstrom and Miss Hilma Holmstrom of Harcourt; Mrs. J.E.Richey and A. Leffler Holmstrom of Dayton; Mrs. R. M. Hammer of Chicago; and Martin W. Holmstrom of Minneapolis. She also leaves l9 grand childre and 7 great grandchildren; also a sister, Mrs. Caroline Burkgren of Dayton, the only one now left of nine brothers and sisters.
After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Holmstrom lived two years at Altona, Illinois; then came in l870 to Iowa, living in farm homes of Lost Grove and Dayton townships some forty years. In l9l8, they retired from the farm, and moved into Harcourt, where the remainder of their lives have been spent. Mrs. Holmstrom was confirmed in the Lutheran church as a child in the Fatherland. She became a member of the Lutheran Church at Andover, Illinois. On coming here, she transferred to the Dayton Lutheran church where she worshiped with her family for many years. Moving into Harcourt, she and Mr. Holmstrom transferred to the Harcourt Lutheran Church, where she was also until a faithful member and servant of her Master. Her funeral was held Thursday afternoon of last week from the Lutheran Church at Harcourt, her pastor, Rev. K.M.Holmberg, speaking in both the Swedish and the English languages. Six of her grandsons served as pallbearers. A mixed quartette sang. Her remains were laid beside those of her husband in Dayton cemetery. The community will mourn this faithful pioneer woman, truly a mother of the frontier. She lived with her loved ones a life full and true, and long will the memory of her cheerful love of duty and faith be cherished among those with whom her years have been spent. The reward of eternal life now comes to her, a happy reward for a life of service and devotion.
