Barry County Missouri Marriage Book (s) US/CAN 977.876 v29L v2 FHL, SLC, 100, Groom: Root, John A. Under 21 Address: Washburn Missouri. Father John Root b 1829 gave permission. Clinton Twp is east of Grand River Twp with LIneville, Iowa being the nearest town. Or North to Warren Twp where Allerton, Iowa is located. The farm was located near the Missouri border. The 1900 federal census shows James "Henry" and family in Barry County Missouri, Ozark Township. Their first child John Frank born Dec 1882 in Missouri and Lela born there in 1894. Robert Root married and Missouri. 1900 census shows his children were born through 1892 in Barry County, Pleasant Ridge Township. George Washington Roots child, Edward was born September 1902 so apparently he didn't move with the rest of the family to Oklahoma. Beulah Root recalls their family came to Oklahoma the day president McKinley was assisinated which was Dec. 1901. There is one mention of Lela being born in Arkansas but unable to verify that as all other documents show Missouri. Signee of General Affidavit, William Christie is shown in 1870 census one page away from John. Affidavit states that John worked for Christie until John left for MO in 1875.
