Notes
a. Note:   From the records of Fishmongers Hall, we find...
 3rd February 1791....... (Under apprenticeships)
John Bannister Bayley (sic) (son of Wm. Bayley late of Mortlake in the county of Surrey, Gardener, deceased, doth put himself apprentice to George Selby, Citizen and Fishmonger of London ( by trade a fishmonger and living at Billingsgate.
 ALSO next ---- we find 12th April 1798 ----
John Bannister Bailey of Lower Thames Street, Fishmonger, late the Apprentice of George Selby Freeman, claiming his freedom of the Company by Service is admitted and sworn... (Bailey By Service)
John Bannister Bailey left a will dated 19th November 1817. He died March 1818. His will proved at Probate on 28th May 1818 by his executor, one John Wade of Mortlake, butcher. His property/estate was valued at under 1500 (on probate form a figure of 1399?.5.4 d with duty paid 13. 17s. 10d)
According to the will John lived at Newington Butts.
John was buried back in Mortlake, Surrey where the burial registers states:-
John Bailey son of William of Kent Street, Borough buried March 12 1818.
On the probate of his will there are only three children named viz. William John, James and Elizabeth. who qualified as beneficiaries. Therefore it must be assumed that any other children born of John B and Hannah Bailey had died young prior to 1818. (or by the time of their mothers death which was in 1834 when any money/estate would have passed to the surviving children.)
We have found a baptism of another possible son, the baptism names the parents as John and Hannah Bailey (Bannister not included which was included in the other children's Christenings)
 From the parish register:-
Thomas Austin Bailey baptized on December 31 1809 at St. George the Martyr, Southwark date of birth given as December 7th 1809.
This son is not mentioned on probate so either not of this family or had died pre 1818.
I have included him as a son for record keeping in case information is found later that confirms him of this family.
