  Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Files shows JOHN CRAIN , NC Line, born on Feb 6, 1759 in North Carolina and lived at Cartars Station on the Holson in North Carolina at his enlistment and after the war soldier lived in Davidson and Robertson Counties, Tennessee. Soldier applied Nov. 12, 1832 in Stewart Co, TN , soldier died March 3, 1839.
  All Descendants of John Crain would therefore be eligible for membership in the DAR.
  Mary Kitts is believed to be the wife of John. The will of Mary Kitts father, John Kitts which was probated in Robertson Co, TN mentions his daughter, Mary Crain.
  Oct 17, 1797, Robertson Co, TN - John Crain served on Grand Jury. To be eligible for Grand Jury a person had to own at least 350 acres of land. He served numerous times in Robertson Co, Tn thru 1808.
  Estate administered in June & July 1836 courts. John Crain died on March 23,1836 and on June 3, 1836 William C. Jones , Joseph Pinner and David Jones made an administrator's bond to carry out the settlement of the estate. This is recorded on Page # 1, vol. D, Stewart Co. Settlements & Bonds B Book 1836-1840. On page 12 of same book there is a record of sale of John Crain's Property and the list shows he was nopt apoor man. He had arm chairs, mirrors, bookd and other luxuries that were listed for sale though the appraisers listed the total value as $2,262.75. They also listed debts of $ 150.38 so that the net value passwed to the heirs was $ 112.38. The settlement of the estate is given on Page 258, but not one name of the heirs is mentioned. No mention of the land that belonged to John Crain at the time of his death is mentioned in estate records.
