a. Note:   Michel left Bremen in Germany and traveled to California in search of gold. Michel Mombeaur Shmith arrived in Australia in 1852 on the ship "General Weser" out of San Fransisco. Again chasing gold in Victoria. He then made his way to "Lambing Flats", now known as Young NSW. After gold chasing, Michel turned his hand to Hotel running. He was naturalised in October 1863 and his then said occupation was Innkeeper, at the time of his death he owned the Empire Hotel at Young NSW.
 One year after Michel's death Maria married Timothy Coleman. This led to the decline of the Shmith family wealth. The Shmith house high on the hill in Young NSW was called
