Notes
a. Note:   Taken from "History of Nebraska" by J. Sterling Morton & Albert Watkins, Vol II, 1907, pg 567:
"The family originally emigrated from England prior to the Revolutionary war. Daniel Abbott was a Methodist minister, but also followed farming to a great extent. Some time before the birth of his son Ezra he was injured by a falling tree and rendered incapable of performing farm work. He then learned the pump trade, which he continued until his sons were old enough to work upon a farm, when he bought and cleared a timber tract and later owned and operated a sawmill run by water power. In 1849 he moved to Gandy [Grundy] county, IL, and took government land there. In 1854 he went to Hardin county, IA, and later settled in Saline county, Neb. he died in Harlan county, Neb., at the age of nearly ninety years."
