Note:   After graduating from Cambridge High School, John earned a Standard Certificate from Edinboro Normal School and taught in a one room rural school in Woodcock Township for six years, then in Saegertown schools for two years.
  John left teaching in 1942 and worked for Talon Inc. (Meadville PA) in the payroll department; he later worked for Carnation Milk in Cambridge Springs PA
  In 1958, John returned to teaching at Cambridge Springs Elementary School. He completed the requirements for a Bachelors in Education degree and a Masters of Education degree at Edinboro State College. In 1974, he became Director of Remedial Reading at Cambridge Springs Elementary School.
  John's favorite hobby is gardening. He started a show garden with hybrid iris and then shifted his attention to daylilies. Upon retirement from teaching, he devoted his time to his daylily gardens and the hybridizing of both iris and daylilies. He introduced and registered several of his seedlings with the American Hemerocallis Society.
  John and Helen were active members and leaders of the Cambridge Springs First United Methodist Church, holding a variety of leadership positions during the years.
  They were both also very active in Cambridge Grange and held office in the local, county and state grange organization.
  Celebrated 25th wedding anniversary with a reception at home in Cambridge. Springs. 4/6/1958.
  Celebrated 50th wedding anniversary at Cambridge. Springs. Senior Center on July 9th.
