a. Note:   from
 Georgia assigned to the 16th Louisiana Infantry, CSA. He joined up in1861 and
 was wounded in 1862. He was honorably discharged. Later he supposedlyjoined
 Company A 22nd Battalion Ga Infantry. He stated as much on his pension
 application. Tradition holds that he served as a guard atAndersonville, but
 this has not been confirmed. He also wrote a diary of which excerptswere printed in a history fo Decaur County.
