Notes
a. Note:   Aunt Minnie married them, (Aunt Minnie was the Judge) , Melba and Johnnie, but they were NOT married in Clark County but in Kelso which is Cowlitz County. Mom said that Aunt Minnie owned the "whole block" there (not sure exactly where in Kelso).
(Brenda Sorenson) She, mom, also has two newspaper clippings from a Kelso paper, dated May?,
1954; one is a picture of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Spooner (James and Minnie) celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The other is a news article telling about them - married in Kelso on April 13, 1904; the celebration was held at their son and daughter-in-laws' home at 207 Grant in West Kelso and 125 people attended the celebration. This was the home of Jimmy and Noreen Spooner (and Noreen still lives there...).
Minnie corresponded with Roy Black who was kin to the Flinns by marriage thru Joseph Gray Walton who was his mothers Great Uncle.
Minnie shared that Susan Virginia Walton was the last surviving child of Elizabeth Jane Flinn and Joseph Gray Walton and that she died at age of 92 in Colorado Springs, CO. Minnie stated that Jennie left a lot of bills at her death, nearly $1000. In another letter from Minnie to Black she told him, that she (Minnie) was just a girl when Eva, Jennie and Uncle Joe (who would have been Joseph Gray) came to Texas from Tennessee. They also had with them a brother they called 'Buddy', who was "feeble minded' and later died in San Antonio. This could have been William Franklin who died at age 14. as apparently here were no other surviving boys. When arriving in Texas Eva lived with Minnie's parents. Eva was a school teacher and in fact was Minnie's first teacher. It is unclear where Joseph Gray and the other two children lived.
