Note: N13 RIVERSIDE JACK MOODY HARRIS Passed away on December 27th at the V.A. Hospital in Loma Linda of natural causes. Jack was born in Riverside on February 9, 1924. He graduated from Poly High and attended Riverside Junior College. Jack lived and farmed on the land that was purchased by his family in 1932. Jack proudly served in the army during WWII where he was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he received during combat in Okinawa. Jack was a founding member and later a director of the Dr. Edmund C. Jaeger Palaver, an organization devoted to the education and conservation of the California Desert. Jack was a gifted author and lecturer. Jack will be remembered for his many interests, especially his bird farm that he was able to keep in later years despite city pressure to close. The birds were enjoyed by many generations of local children and a feature of many articles. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Helen Harris and sister, Helen Williams. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Trimble and her husband Bill of Florence, Oregon, in addition to many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on January 6th at 10:15 at Staging Are #2 where he will receive full military honors.
