All rights reserved. Moses GINN - Jesse GINN GINN, JESSE. Supposed to have fought in the Revolution as his descendants possess his old musket and clothes worn by him, was born in England in 1760 and died April 8, 1840, in St. Clair County. The name of his first wife is not known but there were nine children by this marriage. He came to St. Clair County after 1820 and in 1824 married Tabitha Brewer, born in February 1800, and died August 7, 1880. He also had nine children by the second marriage. His son by his first wife, Robert Douglass Ginn, born February 26, 1804, died March 27, 1844, married January 4, 1829, Martha Taylor, born August 5, 1805, died August 16, 1841. All rights reserved. The tax lists on this roll of microfilm are paged consecutively. The Franklin Co., TN list begins with page 77 and is also numbered beginning with page 1. I have enclosed the microfilm page number in parenthesis for convenience in finding a page of interest. Each page has a double row of names with their number of polls. The polls are tallied at the end of each row and with the figure brought forward to the next column. All polls are 1 except where indicated otherwise. There are not more than two polls listed for a person. Due to ownership of land in other districts, names do appear more than once. The enumerator changed his style of recording the names from time to time. He switched between putting the surname first and the given name first. The handwriting is consistent throughout, indicating the same enumerator or scribe. Most of the names are fairly easy to read. I have placed a question mark by those I feel unsure about. The pages appear to be in good shape and have microfilmed well. Page 1 (77) Moses GINN - Jesse GINN FRANKLIN COUNTY, TENNESSEE REVOLUTIONARY WAR PENSIONS 26 Nov. 1832 Franklin County William JACKSON aged 70 states he was born in the city of London near Tower Hill in 1762. Gary Cowan Fort Worth, Texas Heritage of St. Clair Co, pg 54 & 55 EDEN - Eden was way before Pell City was! It's hey-day was in the 1880's. It was the 'railhead' for the track workers along the Southern Railroad. On April 23, 1956, Eden was swallowed by a merger with Pell City, Alabama. The only way we can keep it from disappearing is to record it's history.Eden was called Manchester before the name was changed in 1872. That year the town gained a new Post Office and along with it, the name of Eden. The earliest settler in Eden was Jesse Ginn. He was a Revolutionary War veteran. On November 14, 1971, the Broken Arrow chapter of the DAR marked Jesse Ginn's grave with a bronze plaque. In 1836, Mr. Ginn brought his family to St. Clair County, Alabama and settled on Wolf Creek, two miles below Eden. Other families were soon living there. Some of them are the Cates, Cowans, Hindsmans, Laneys, Lewises, Pattersons, Robertsons and Stevens.
