a. Note:   Joseph and Vincent Lasko were the only children of her 1st husband Mr. Lasko. The other 2 children, Sophia and Boleslaw were born out of wedlock to different fathers (names unknown).
  After Anna's first husband died she left her children in Poland and went to California where she worked in a restaurant, earned enough money and then returned to Poland. She purchased a home and some land for her and the children.
  After she married John Batko in 1906, John and Anna came to America without her children. They are listed as going to her brothers in Chicago (Lorenz cannot read his surname) he is living at 245 Cornell Street.
  Eventually her children did come to America.
  In 1910 Anna went back to Poland and took her children, Irene and Edward, where Edward learned to walk on the ship. Irene had to carry her brother's potty chair around on the ship. Anna and the children returned to America when the threat of war started in Europe. (for photo and info on ship see www.ellisisland.org)
