Note: BIR-DEATH-MARRIAGE: (Thompson3)pg 1 As the story was handed down, David left to go to California during the 1846 Gold Rush and Sarah being told he had been killed by the indians, married John Corrington. Upon return to Ohio and finding his wife remarried, David then met and married Maria Akars on 25 December 1851. It is assumed David settled in or near Montgomery County, Indiana. They had a family of 8 children (their first child, Laura Bell, was born 21 Oct 1853). (THOMPSON1) pg 8 !MARRIAGE: Shirley Kunz Williams, THE DESCENDANTS OF E.E. Lisse Dear Lisse, (January 10, 1998) Shirley Williams is my mother's cousin and does have quite abit of information on the Thompson line. I have not done too much on the line since there were several people working on it but have decided it is time to at least start documenting the information I do have. Most everthing I have is just what has been passed down or not very well documented. I just rechecked my data on David Marion and realized I do not have any of his information documented - not even a census record. Time to get busy!! I would enjoy exchanging information on this line with you. sincerely, Myrna Kemp tomrd@@northcoast.com Subject: Re: David Marion Thompson Research Date: Sun, 11 Jan 1998 15:08:21 -0800 From: Lyle & Lisse McBride <lissemc@@gte.net> To: "Jean'" <tomrd@@northcoast.com> > Lyle & Lisse McBride wrote: Shirley and I have done lots of work in the McBride family the last 2 weeks (well, she's actually been the one getting the info at the sl fhc, but we've been brainstorming and gathering our next strategies daily. Haven't located any marriage documentation. John, Phoebe and their family were located in the 1860 Clay Co, Indiana census on page 764. The next time we find David & Laura Bell is in 1910 when they are in Aransas Pass with their son John (San Patricio Co, Tx). We don't know where they are inbetween 1870 and 1910. And why isn't my gfather Avery with them in 1910 - he's only 15. He has siblings in KS, NB, OK, IL, and MO. We need to check the 1880, 1900 and 1910 soundex. Gotta go, Lisse (SEE THOMPSON 27 & 28) for further info from Margaret Van Ness Nelson Subject: Thompsons Date: Fri, 20 Feb 1998 14:49:59 +0000 From: Margaret Van Ness Nelson <mvnelson@@ix.netcom.com> Hi Myrna Cked the Thompsons in Butler Co cemetery records at OHS and found no David Marion Thompson b 1812, nor any Mariah. Not surprising. I would guess that someone has checked the Warren Co cemetery records. As I recall, Warren Co cemetery records (at OHS) are not as complete as those of Butler Co OH. All for now Margaret Fri, 20 Mar 1998 22:00:20 -0700 From: shirley-williams@@juno.com (Shirley K Williams) To: tomrd@@northcoast.com Dear Myrna, Did I tell you that I found David Thompson in the 1870 Census? I talked to Lisse about it but don't know if I mentioned it to you. Anyway the data is: Film # 0545803 - 1870 Indiana Census of Clay County, Dick Johnson Township. Enumerated on the 20th day of July . Post Office: Brazil (I don't know how long they lived here. I can't find them in 1880 but Greanpa E.E. wrote in his little journal on 10 March 1915: Got up at 4 o. ck. Took Interurban car for Cinc. on way to Brazil Ind. Arrived at Brazil 3:30 o.c. Found George Hadley and cousin Almey Corrington Hadley, ( Alma Francis is the 3rd daughter of Angeline Young,) whom I had not seen for 47 years. Was treated Royal.) Page 1 of Dick Johnson Township - Printed Page No. 42 Dwelling #4 Family #4 Thompson, David Age 58, Male, White, Farmer; No value listed for Real Estate. $250. Personal estate. Born in Ohio; Male Citizen of the U.S. over 21 years of age. Mariah Age 40, Female, White, Keeps House; Born in Ohio. Laurie Age 17, Female, White, Born in Ohio. Vernellia, Age 15, Female, White, Born in Ohio Albert, Age 13, Male, White, Born in Ohio Margaret E. 12, Female, White, Born in Ohio Mary E. Age 11, Female, White, Born in Ohio Melvina Age 7, Female, White, Born in Ohio (twin sister died - on mention made of her here.) Rosealind Age 4, Female, White, Born in Ohio So they were in Ohio in 1866, but I can't find them in the 1860 Ohio Census. Sure is too bad that they don't have a Soundex for the State in 1860. I've been looking for their marriage and have gone back through all the marriage indexes that were available and there are some good records but I can't find either David's marriage to Sarah Young or to Maria Akars. I checked the Indiana Soundex for 1880 and couldn't find them there either. Hope it isn't confusing for me to put the journal entry in right in the middle of the census information. I would like copies of the Census records where you found E.E. Thompson and families. Did I give you the information on the 1880 Census - Nebraska, Hitchcock County, Driftwood Township? I just had the question pop into my mind - Would David have gone to Nebraska when Edwin and his family did? Laura & David M. McBride followed their son and his family to Texas and were living with them when he passed away and then Laura remarried. The fact that there is no Real Estate value listed must mean that he didn't own the property but there must have been some kind of drawing card in there is still family there in 1915. I checked out the David Thompson in Warren County in Wayne Township in 1850 but that was a David born in Penn. and I'm sure David was in California at that time. Well, I have spent a lot of time today but don't know much that I didn't already know. There is a film referenced in the FHLC but when I looked it up the box is empty and a note stating that a copy of the film was requested in 1991. It is for Ohio marriages 1803-1965 #1510029 Another one 1841-1851 #1514073 and it was not in the drawer. I've been reading the films #0384262 General Index and consective numbers to 0384268. There is another filming #0964266 to 0964274. The breakdown of the years is strange: 1803-1854; 1854-1861; 1861-1869; 1847-1854; 1867-1876 ; 1876-1889. I'm sure that Mother found the marriage of David & Maria but that she couldn't find David and Sarah. I just can't find the reference to it and so I have to backtrack looking at records that she has already searched. Well the news is half over and I'm more than half asleep so good night. Shirley
