Let me know if I have it correct and if there's anything you can add? Margaret Summary About Mariah Akers Thompson Mariah was not named in the 1850 census with her parents so she must have left home by 1850. She is named in her father1s will and in the 1871 quit claim deed where her husband is identified as David Thompson. The federal census of 1870, Dick Township, Clay County, Indiana, shows David Thompson, 58 born in Ohio, with Mariah 40 born in Ohio as were their children Laurie 17, Vernelia 15, Albert 13, Margaret 12, Mary E. 11, Malvinia 7, and Roesalind 4. Information from Myrna Kemp, Box 322, Redway, CA 95560, provided more information about the Thompson family which has been traced back to 1400 Scotland. David Thompson was born 12 April 1812 Mason (Palymer) Warren County, Ohio, and died 4 December, 1878, somewhere in Ohio. Mariah Akers was born 24 Feb 1824 (conflicting with the 1870 census record where she was 40) and died 27 April 1909. The following information comes from Myrna who is attempting to document her Thompson research and that done earlier by relatives. Myrna1s grandfather told the following story: David Marion Thompson married (where?) in 1842 to Sarah Young and had one son, Edwin Emanuel Thompson, before David left for California about 1846. Sarah did not hear from him for several years and assumed he was dead. She married again (where, when?) to John Corrington. When David Thompson returned from the west and found Sarah remarried, he married Mariah Akers 25 December 1851. Documentation for that date has yet to be located. Lisse McBride is a descendant of David and Mariah1s daughter Laura Belle who married David McBride (when, where?) The McBride family was in Indiana in the 1860 and 1870 census but I have not yet received specific information on these census records, nor the family group record of Laura Bell and David McBride. John and Phoebe McBride were the parents of David McBride. At some point they moved to San Patricio County, Texas with their son John Dennith McBride and his wife, Maud. David Marion Thompson was the son of Aaron and Jane Lee Thompson who moved to Butler County, Ohio, from Fayette County, Pennsylvania in 1805 or 1806. Aaron and Jane had sixteen children, some whose names are yet unknown, as is the source of this information. The children, in no particular order were: Margaret Thompson; John Lee Thompson, born 8 September 1804 Fayette County, Pennsylvania, resided Deerfield Township, Warren County, Ohio, married 4 November 1829 to Eleanor Conover, daughter of David, and had seven children; Joseph Thompson, born 1807 Butler County, Ohio; William E. Thompson; Ralph Thompson; David Marion Thompson; Aaron Thompson; Robert Thompson; Henry Thompson; Enoch Thompson; Sarah Jane Thompson; and five Thompsons, given names unknown. Aaron Thompson was the son of William Thompson born about 1752, London Grove, Chester County, Pennsylvania and Francis Mills, born about 1752.
