a. Note:   William was an army veteran. While attending the Chicago World's Fair, he inlisted in the army. He served during the period September
 27, 1893 until August 6, 1896. In June 1914, he applied for a
 Homestead selling the land in August 1917. This piece of real estate
 comprising 40 acres is now a part of Mille Lacs Kathio State Park.
 William was working at a hotel in Page, Minnesota where he met Dora
 Free, also employed at the hotel. He later worked as a janitor in a
 downtown St. Paul office building.
