  Bennie Mae Burnette was the second child of William Herbert and Elizabeth Genevieve "Bill" Thomas Burnette. She was born in 1935 at Coker Hospital in Canton, Georgia. She grew up in the Town Creek Community of Talking Rock, Georgia along with her 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
  Jack and Bennie were married the 9th day of August 1952 in Benton, Tennessee. After graduating form Ellijay High School in 1953, she went to live with her husband, Jack, who was stationed in Seattle, Washington during the Korean War.
  Returning to Georgia after Jack was discharged, they made their home in Atlanta, Georgia where they raised two children and lived the rest of their lives.
  Bennie was employed by "Land O Lakes, Inc. on December 30, 1957. She serviced as Office Manager, Sales Representative and Business Manager. She retired in 2001 after 44 years with "Land O Lakes."
  She died on January 13, 2003 at Kindred Hospial of Chronic Lung Disease. She is buried in the old Buckhorn Cemetery, now Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery, in Gilmer County, Georgia.
