Notes
a. Note:   SURNAME: Fonda states that her mother referred to her as Sarah Jane Miles. She never heard the name Johnson.
SURNAME: In a letter from Fonda Kear, Mar. 8, 1994, it was reported that Sarah Jane Ellis was the wife of Alec Morrow. Fonda said she often heard her mother repeat the name Ellis.
MARRIAGE #1: Fonda Kear reported in a letter to me on March 8, 1994, that Sarah Jane Johnson was married previously and that three children were born to that union: Columbus Dewitt "Uncle Doc", Nancy, and Ida. I found out later that her marriage was to Newton Guthrie.
MARRIAGE #2: Gencircles.com, Edens and Bearden site, 27 Apr 2004, Alexander Morrow, 3 Mar 1884 in Guadelupe County, Texas.
MARRIAGE: Guadelupe County, Texas Marriage Records, 1884-1885, found on the Texas GenWeb site, shows: A.L. Morrow to Mr. S.J. Guttery, by R.W. Pierce, Elder, on 4 March 1884.
MARRIAGE NOTE: 22 Jan 03 I found on the Texas Genweb, Caldwell County Marriage Records, Marriage Book "G': Morrow, S.B. & Guttry, -- / R.W. Peirce, L.E.M.E.C. C.S./ 04/Sep/1857, P. 43. On the same website, I found the Plum Creek Almanac Vol. XIV, 1996, which gave the following information: Morrow, S.B., V 14, p.145 and Guttry, V 14, p. 145. The latter probably a reference to the former notation. This info needs to be verified with the County Clerk, Caldwell County Courthouse, P.O. Box 62, Lockhart, Texas 78644. It may or may not be our Sarah Jane and Newton Guthrie.
CENSUS: NOTE OF CAUTION: 1860 Pike County, Alabama census, Hallsville, P.O., page 124, Dwelling #841/841, Lines 36-40, shows: James Johnson, age 29, farmer, born in Alabama; Mary C., age 23, born in Alabama; Mary E., age 6; Sarah J., age 3, and Cinthia, age 6/12. The children were all born in Alabama. Sarah J. would have been born in 1857, the same year as our Sarah Jane, wife of Alexander Morrow. Need further confirmation.
CENSUS: NOTE OF CAUTION: 1860 Oglethorpe County Georgia, enumerated on the 22 June 1860, Reel #653-113, Sheet #635, Line 22, Dwelling 227, copied from the RootsWeb.com Census files, shows: James E. Johnson, age 44, farmer, born in Georgia; Susan, age 33, born in Georgia; Mary, age 15; Martha, age 11; Thomas, age 6; and Sarah, age 3. All children were born in Gerogia. NOTE: Sarah, age 3, was born in 1857, in Georgia, the same year as our Sarah Jane Johnson. Our Sarah was reportedly born in Alabama. Need to check to make sure this is our Sarah Jane.
CENSUS: 1880 Walker County, Alabama, age 25. (from Gencircles.com, Edens and Bearden site, 27 Apr 2004).
