Note: N18 Carl was a River boat pilot almost his whole life. After moving to IIllinois he was a Ferry Boat Pilot on the Cave-in-Rock Ferry(which is still running today (2004). Even after retiring he would run the "second" Ferryboat when needed on week -ends for the heavy traffic in the summer of the 1960's.The Ferry runs from Ilinois at the southern end of the state to the state of Kentucky. His two sons Buddy & Rudy were Ferryboat pilots too. They both piloted the Cave in Rock Ferry until retirement.
