Notes
a. Note:   She entered the Jackson household as hired help, a nurse to help the ailing Hannah (Woodward) Jackson. She remained on after Hannah's death in 1814 to help care for the young Jackson children. One year after Hannah's death she wed William. Some viewed the match between William and a carpenter's daughter as a misalliance, but the marriage proved to be a long and happy one, resulting in the birth of twelve children.
