FOLLANSBEE - Bessie M. Tennant, 76, of 490 Burgoyne Ave., Apartment 7, died Wednesday, Jan 24, 1996, at Weirton Medical Center. She retired in 1984 from Weirton Steel Corp. in the janitorial services department.
She was born April 22, 1919, in Middlebourne, W.Va., a daughter of the late Albert David and Harriet Gorby Smith. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William H. "Bill" Tennant, whom she married Nov. 9, 1940, in Middlebourne, and who died Sept. 17, 1959; one daughter, Judy Plance, who died in 1990; one son, William Roger Tennant, who died in 1960; three brothers, Robert, Paul, and Keith Smith; and one sister, Virginia Cowan.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Trudy) Moore of Weirton; two sons, Gary Tennant of Kimbolton, Ohio; and Ricky Tennant of Follansbee; one brother, Michael Smith of Wellsburg; two sisters, Nancy Hawkins of La Porte, Ind.; and Betty Shreve of Middlebourne; and 11 grandchildren.
She attended the Hooverson Heights Nazarene Church. Calling hours are today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Harry Knight officiating. Burial will be held in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.
