Occupation: Proprietor - Pressler Auto Service. <b>Find A Grave:</b> Created by: Deb Minniear Rush OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) - April 10, 2009 Susannah Kent, 95, Wabash, died at 3:36 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009, at her home. She was born Feb. 25, 1914, in LaFontaine to Charley and Daisy (Sailors) Shenefield. Mrs. Kent graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1932 from LaFontaine High School and recieved her bachelor's degree from Manchester College. She married Paul Pressler in 1937 and he died in 1960. In 1966, she married Dr. Walter Kent, and he survives. Susie was a member and very active in the Christian Church, first in LaFontaine and then in Wabash for more than 85 years. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Garden Club, the Latrian Club, Fourth Night Club and the Woman's Clubhouse, all of Wabash. She was an avid card player. She is also survived by two daughters, Paula (Stephen) Abbott and Sylvia (James) Farrior, both of Fishers; five grandchildren, David (Nina) Moore, Noblesville, Daniel (Renee) Moore, Carmel, Dr. Taylor (Veronica) Ortiz, Boston, Mass., Jordan Ortiz, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Allegra Ortiz, Atlanta; five great-grandchildren, Andrea Moore, Fishers, Alex Moore, New York City, Eliza Moore, Ethan Moore and Elliott Moore, all of Carmel; a stepdaughter, Julie (Ken) Molt, Cincinnati; and her cats, Blaze & Blue Bell. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Pressler, and a brother, Stuart Shenefield. Funeral services will be at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave., on Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Frische-Mouri officiating. (bio by: Friends of Falls Cemetery) <b>Find A Grave:</b> Created by: Friends of Falls Cemetery OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) Dr. Walter Kent, 98, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 9:39 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Wabash County Hospital. He was born March 30, 1913 in Laud, Indiana, in Whitley County, to John J. and Leoria (Knight) Kent. He was a 1929 graduate of Millersburg High School in Elkhart County, Indiana. He received his B.A. from Depauw University in 1932, his Masters Degree from the University of Michigan in 1942, and his Ph.D. in Education from Indiana University in 1956. Dr. Kent married Clare Josephine Kelderhouse in Millersburg, Indiana, on May 1, 1939; she died November 28, 1964. He then married Susannah (Shenefield) Pressler in Wabash on June 11, 1966; she died April 9, 2009. In 1937, Dr. Kent began his teaching career in a rural high school in Steuben County. In 1942, he was the principal at Jefferson Center School in Whitley County, and then was the principal at Mentone High School five years. Dr. Kent was the Assistant Superintendent of Kokomo City Schools seven years. While in Kokomo he taught at IU Kokomo. He was the superintendent of Wabash City Schools from 1963-1972, and also taught at O.J. Neighbors Elementary School, in Wabash, seven years. He had a vision and created the the Upper Wabash Vocational School, now Heartland Career Center. Because of this vision, thousands of students and adults benefited and were given an oppurtunity to better their lives and careers. He was a member of the Wabash Christian Church. He was a longtime member of the Wabash Rotary Club, was past president, and a district treasurer two years. Dr. Kent was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the National Education Association, and the Depauw Alumni Association. He enjoyed reading and was an avid gardener. He is survived by daughter, Julie (Ken) Molt of Cincinnati, Ohio; two step-daughters, Paula (Stephen) Abbott and Sylvia (James) Farrior, both of Fishers, Indiana; five step-grandchildem, David (Nina) Moore of Noblesville, Indiana, Daniel Moore of Carmel, Indiana, Dr. Taylor (Veronica) Ortiz of Amherst, Massachusetts, Jordan Ortiz of Arlington, Virginia, and Allegra Ortiz of Atlanta, Georgia; six step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eileen Baker. Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Melinda Kammerer officiating. #Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-7 p.m., Friday, October 21 at the funeral home.
