George Garst Dies at 80 Saturday
George Garst, 80, of 711 West Vermont Ave, died in his home at 6 am Saturday morning. He had been ill for some time.
Funeral service will be held at 9 am Monday at the St Patrick's Catholic Church, Urbana, with the Rev Father Charles H Martell officiating. Burial will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery. The parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm Sunday at Renner Funeral Home. Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm Sunday.
Mr Garst was born June 17, 1884, in St Louis and was the son of George and Theresa (Fuhrman) Garst. He was a retired plastering contractor.
He leaves a widow, the former Barbara Mahler, and three sister, Mrs Ann Aubuchon, Mrs Christine Mattern, and Miss Louise Garst, all from St Louis.
Mr Garst also leaves three daughters, Mrs Lily Clay, Champaign; Mrs Ruby Smith, Racine, Wis; and Mrs Florence Heibel, St Louis; and one son Arthur, of Madison, Wis. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Theodore.
Mr Garst also leaves three St Patrick's Catholic church of Urbana. (?)
