Note: k Moravian Church. Her given name appears in the baptismal record as "Auguste". Her parents were shown as "Wilhelm Heinrich and Sarah (geboren Herzelin) Plattenberger. The sponsors at her baptism were Jacob Colver and his wife, Catharina (nee Steiner); Peter Haack and his wife, Fredericka (nee Plattenberger); and Maria Colver. Plattenberger was confirmed a member of the Moravian Church at Schoeneck, near Nazareth, PA. In 1850 Augusta Plattenberger, age 17, was living on the farm of George Knauss and his wife, Ann Cilla, in Bushkill Twp., Northampton Co., PA, three doors away from her parents home. (1850 census, microfilm roll #803, Northampton Co., PA, Bushkill Twp., pg. 344, house #39) Augusta Plattenberger and James Rader were married at the parsonage of the Evangelical Church on North St. in Bethlehem, PA, by Rev. Joseph Gross. For fifteen years Augusta and her husband, James Rader, had charge of the Mountain Fruit Farm in eastern Salisbury Township, Lehigh County, in the Fountain Hill section of south Bethlehem. A year after the death of her husband in 1891, Augusta moved to 232 Fairview Street in Bethlehem, PA. She was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Church of South Bethlehem. AUGUSTA RADER Ill of Bright's disease for some time, Mrs. Augusta Rader, widow of the late James Rader, died yesterday afternoon at 2:35 o'clock at her late residence, No. 232 Fairview Street, aged 71 years. Mrs. Rader was born in Upper Nazareth Township on July 24, 1834. She was the third oldest child of Henry and Sarah Plattenberger. In 1847 she was confirmed a member of the Moravian Church at Schoeneck. On Aug. 7, 1856, she was married to James Rader at the parsonage of the Evangelical Church on North Street by the late, Rev. Mr. Gross. For fifteen years, Mr. and Mrs. Rader had charge of the Mountain Fruit Farm, in Eastern Salisbury, Lehigh County. A year after the death of her husband in 1894, Mrs. Rader removed to this place, where she had since resided. She was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Church of South Bethlehem. The couple had two children, Wilson Rader, of Spring Street, and Miss Sallie Rader, at home, who survive the deceased. The funeral will take place on Tuesday afternoon. The funeral of Mrs. Augusta E. Rader, took place yesterday afternoon from her late residence, No. 232 Fairview Street. Services were held at the house, the Rev. J. I. Yotter of St. John's Evangelical Church, officiating. The pallbearers were John Seiple, Jacob Sigendall, Reuben H. Keim, Wallace Redline, Levi Hemmerly and Herman Buntz.
