Note: alem Church of Bangor, PA which was one of several churches of the Evangelical Methodist Church circuit at that time. The exact location of his baptism is not known. The baptismal record shows that he was born 25 February 1859 but the birth date on his tombstone is 25 January 1859. In 1900 Wilson C. Rader, b. Jan 1860, age 40, a laborer on the C.R.R. of NJ, was living at 224 Leibert Street in West Bethlehem in Hanover Twp., Lehigh Co., PA, with his wife, Mary Ellen (listed as Ellen M.) Rader, b. Aug 1870, age 29, and four of their children; - daughter Emma M. Rader, b. Jul 1887 age 12 - son James A. Rader, b. Mar 1890 age 10, at school - son Joseph H. Rader, b. Oct 1891 age 8, at school - daughter Annie L. Rader, listed as b. Aug 1886 age 13, but actually b. Aug 1896 age 3 Wilson and Mary Ellen had been married for 15 years. Mary Ellen was the mother of 5 children, of whom 4 were living in 1900. Everyone in the household was born in PA. Wilson had charge of the Mountain Fruit Farm at Fountain Hill for 21 years. Afterwards he was employed for nine years as watchman by the Central Railroad Company of New Jersey. He was a member of Capt. O. A. Luchenbach Camp, No. 182, S. of V., and of Good Will Castle, No. 75, K. G. E. Wilson died of TB at his home on Spring Street beyond 9th Ave. in Southwest Bethlehem. WILSON C. RADER Wilson Cyrus Rader died yesterday at his late residence on Spring Street, beyond Ninth Avenue, West Side, aged 47 years, 7 months and 23 days. Death was due to tuberculosis. He was born in Bushkill Township, Northampton County, on Jan. 25, 1859, and was the son of James and Augusta Rader. In 1885 he was married to Miss Ellen Simons, of Allentown, the Rev. Mr. Diefenderfer officiating. Mr. Rader had charge of the Mountain Fruit Farm, beyond Fountain Hill, for 21 years. Afterwards he was employed for nine years as watchman by the Central Railroad Company of New Jersey. He was a member of Capt. O. A. Luckenbach Camp, No. 182, S. of V., and of Good Will Castle, No. 75, K.G.E. His illness dates back to March 17 last. He leaves a widow, two sons, and two daughters, and one sister, Miss Sallie Rader. The funeral will take place from his late residence on Thursday at 2 p.m. with services at the house. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery. FUNERALS The funeral of Wilson C. Rader took place yesterday afternoon from his late home on Spring Street, West Side. Services were held in Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. W. D. C. Keller, officiating. Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery. Three members of Capt. O. A. Luckenbach Camp, No. 182, S. of V., and three members of Good Will Castle No. 75, K.G.E., were the pallbearers. (Obituary dated 18 September 1906 and funeral notice dated 21 September 1906 from clipping collection at Moravian Historical Society, Nazareth, PA. Name of newspaper not identified.) Wilson C. Rader left a will, dated 18 April 1906, in which he bequeathed all of his estate, after his debts and funeral expenses were paid, to his wife, Mary Ellen Rader, and appointed her the executrix of his will. (Estate file #11483 Northampton County Government Center, Easton, PA) After Wilson C. Rader died, his widow, Mary Ellen (nee Simons), married the widower, Edgar M. Burgstresser. In 1910 Wilson's former wife, Mary Ellen (listed as Ellen M.) (Simons) Rader Burgstesser, age 39, was living at 210 Spring Street in West Bethlehem, Lehigh Co., PA, with her second husband, Edgar M. Burgstresser b. in NJ age 40, a house carpenter, and two of Wilson and Mary Ellen's children: - son Joseph H. Rader age 19, a machinist - daughter Annie L. Rader age 13 Also listed in their household were three of Edgar M. Burgstresser's children from his previous marriage: - Elsie Burgstresser age 16, a sales lady in a store - Bertie B. Burgstresser age 14 - Michael I. Burgstresser age 12 Mary Ellen and Edgar had been married for 2 years. Mary Ellen was the mother of 5 children, of whom 3 were living in 1910. Also listed in their household were: a hired man, Henry Bartholomew age 76 a widower, and four boarders: Mary McCue, b. in Ireland, age 59; Tresse A. McCue, age 21; James F. McCue, age 24; and Edwin J. McKay, age 23. Except for Edgar and Mary McCue, everyone in the household was born in PA. (Simons) Rader Burgstresser, age, 49, was living at 1118 Spring St. in the 13th Ward in Bethlehem, Northampton County, PA, with her second husband, Edgar M. Burgstresser, age 50, a house carpenter. Also listed in their household were Mary's married daughter, Emma (Rader) Berger, age 32, with her husband, Robert Berger, age 31, a car inspector for a railroad, and their two sons: - Raymond Berger, age 9 - Frances Berger, age 5 and two of Mary's unmarried children: - Joseph Rader, age 28, a carpenter in a planing mill - Anna Rader, age 23 There were also five boarders and a servant listed in the household.
