a. Note:   N194 Robert Delzell took an oath as Ensign in the Militia on 11 Oct 1796. On 13 Dec 1796 he was appointed Constable. Later on 11 Sep 1798 he was made a Lieutenant in the Militia. In the 1810 Census he is shown as 26-45 and in his home there is 1 female in each age group: At the time of his death he appears to have only one child, Nancy M.
b. Note:   N226 13 Feb. 1798 from James and Lilley to Robert for 5 dollars one tract of land lying on the waters of Catawba Creek on the Great Road leading from Fincastle to the big lick it being part of the 171 acres conveyed by James Johnston to said James Delzell Sr. and is part of a tract of 230 acres granted to said Johnston by patent bearing date 7 Aug 1761 and also part of tract of 110 acres granted to James Delzell the 1st day Feb. 1781
