a. Note:   He was known as "Sergeant Jimmie" {Geer Genealogy} He was Sergeant in the Preston Company in the 8th Conn. Regt. of Foot in 1780 {Conn. Archives, Military Series 2, folio 268b and 2683b}. In 1778 and 1779 he carried orders and rode express for Col. Oliver Smith {Conn. archives Revolutionary War, XII:298a and XVII:118}.He was known as "Sergeant Jimmie" He was Sergeant in the Preston Company in the 8th Conn. Regt. of Foot in 1780 .
