  Michael was born from Ireland - possibly in Tipperary. He arrived in the United States in 1865.
 He married Frances (Fannie) Bowe around 1869. In the 1870 census, he and his new bride were living in Cuyahoga County, Cleveland Ohio, Ward 8. Michael was working in the oil works, and listed his place of birth as Ireland. Fannie, age 20, also listed her birthplace as Ireland. Together they had 11 children, 8 of whom lived. Michael died prior to the 1910 census.
  In 1880 census, Michael, age 35 and wife Fanny, age 29 lived on Vermont Street. Michael was a foreman in the oil refinery, and Fannywas keeping house. Both were born in Ireland, and bothof their parents we born in Ireland as well. The census continues on the next page, where their children are shown as: Honorah age 8 (Nora), Thomas age 5, James age 3 and Michael age 1. All the children were born in Ohio (likely born in Cuyahoga County, Cleveland).
  In 1900 census, the family lived at 170 Vermont Street, Cleveland, Ohio. Everyone in household could read, write and speak English. Head of household Michael Ryan, born Jan 1847, age 53, married 30 years. Census again confirms he was born in Ireland, as were both his parents. Naturalized in 1865, in United States for 35 years. Occupation: Watchman (oil works). Owned his home. Wife Fannie, born April 1851, born Ireland as were both her parents. Married 30 years, had 11 children, 8 of which were living. Came to United States in 1852, has been in United States 48 years. Also residing in household were children: Nora (born Ohio Jan 1872, age 28), Thomas (born Ohio, Jan 1876, age 24, worked as laborer oil works), Lawrence (born Ohio, Oct 1881, age 18, worked as cook in diner), Belle (born Ohio, Nov 1885, age 14), Michael (born Ohio, May 1887, age 12), Katherine (born Ohio, Aug 1891, age 8) and Edward (born Ohio, June 1895, age 5). Cleveland township coex. with Cleveland city, Seventh Ward; Precinct D Bounded by: Payne Ave., Willson Ave., Euclid Ave., Case Ave., Mason and McHenry, Blocks numbered. Down the street lived a Nora Ryan, possibly a relation (sister in law?)
