Note:   Several records, including Joseph Kolb's will; Genealogical and Biographical Annals of Northumberland County; and A Genealogical History of the Kolb, Kulp or Culp Family by Daniel Kolb Cassell, indicate that Christian was Joseph Kolb's sixth son. Cassell also says that Christian was a child of Joseph and his second wife, whose name is unknown; however, Joseph appears to have had several other children by his first wife, Ann Maria, after Christian's birth. The circumstances of his birth, therefore, currently remain uncertain.
