Note: OBITUARY: Fort Collins Coloradoan (CO) - May 25, 2008 Deceased Name: Velma G. Slatten Velma G. Slatten, 94, of Fort Collins went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Known to her family as "Tootsie" she worked at Slatten's Automotive until just five weeks before her demise. Born in Trinidad on May 15, 1914, Velma was a woman of strong Christian faith and always had a smile for everyone. Along with her sense of humor and teasing way with people, she had an impact on the lives of many and will be sorely missed by those who came to know her. The last survivor of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Slatten; her father, mother, two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her four sons, George Slatten of Santa Fe, N.M., David (& Ginger) Slatten of Fort Collins, Richard (& Sherry) Slatten of Eaton, Robert Slatten of Fort Collins; and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Goes Funeral Care. Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday in the south auditorium of Timberline Church, Fort Collins. Interment 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Cemetery in Trinidad. In lieu of flowers, the Slatten family requests that any memorial donations please be made to Hospice of Larimer County. Note concerning this obit: Velma had been divorced from her husband for many decades.
