a. Note:   Dec 1784 he was warranted land on Little River in Randolph Co. On 18 Aug 1787 another deed to 120 acres was granted to Jasper Coons on Little River, with more property later on Richmond Creek. He acquired more land there on 15 Aug 1793. Gasper moved to Rowan Co., NC, and then to Wilkes Co. where they owned land along the Red River.
  On 27 Apr 1793 Gasper and Massa Koons were received into the Quaker's Back Creek Monthly Meeting in Randolph Co., NC. On 27 June 1793 their children also joined at the request of their father: George, Devoull, John, Jasper, Martha, and Mary.
  Gasper married second Abagail Piggott on 3 Nov 1797 at the Back Creek Meeting Hall in Randolph Co. Abagail was born 9 Feb 1772, the daughter of Jeremiah and Rachel Piggott. Jeremiah and his second wife lie buried in the Earlham Cemetery in Henry Co., IN. Abagail died 26 Feb 1850 and was buried in Whitewater Churchyard; her body was later moved to Earlham Cemetery in Richmond, IN. In 1800 Gasper lived in Randolph Co., NC (page 324 - 21210-00110-00). He moved to Wayne County, IN, where on 19 Nov 1808 he recorded a deed to SW of S10, T13N, R1W. In 1809 he was listed as a voter in Indiana Territory, which included Randolph, Wayne, and Union Counties. He appears in the 1815 tax list for Ashe Co., NC. Gasper and Abagail Coonse requested on 25 June 1808 a certificate to transfer to the South West Branch Monthly Meeting in Miami Co., OH. After traveling six weeks over precarious roads, they arrived at Whitewater, now Richmond, Wayne Co., IN. On 19 Aug 1809 certification was received from the Back Creek Quakers for Jasper, Abigail and Hanna to be received into the West Branch Monthly Meeting of Quakers. They were located in Miami Co., OH, 2 miles southwest of West Milton, having been opened 7 Jan 1807. George had remained in NC, and Devault had moved to Morgan Co., IN. When the Whitewater Monthly Meeting of Quakers opened on 30 Sept 1809 in Richmond, IN, Gasper joined them.
  Gasper died 8 Nov 1820 in Henry Co., IN and was buried in Whitewater Churchyard, Richmond, IN. His will was probated on 22 Sept 1821, and Abigail was appointed executrix in Oct 1821. Gasper's will reads:
 "Last Will and Testament of Gasper Koons in the name of God Amen. I Gasper Koons being low in body but perfect in mind and will do constitute make and ordain this my last will and testament in the following words to wit:
 I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Abagail Koons all my Estate real and personal which I hold in possession in this Territory and at her decease to be equally divided amongst the children she has borne for me - and to my beloved son Gasper Koons I will and bequeath one hundred and fifty acres of land it being a part of my lands which I hold in the County of Randolph in the State of North Carolina and the remaining balance of the aforesaid lands in the State of North Carolina to be equally divided between by beloved sons George Koons, John Koons and Devolt Koons and Gasper Koons and my beloved daughters Mary and Martha. Except five dollars out of the aforesaid Dividends of Lands to be paid to Devolt Koons in testimony whereof I do hereunto subscribe my name the sixth day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and fourteen.
