Note: moved with his father to the West Branch Friends Meeting in Miami Co., Ohio in 1808/9. He is probably the John Koons who purchased land on 12 Nov 1822 in Blue River Township, Henry Co., IN, as his brother George and purchased land the day before. John moved to Jefferson Co., IA in about 1836 where he appears in the 1840 census (2110100100000-01100100000000) with 4 sons, 2 daughters and his wife. John died 10 July 1849 in Jefferson Co., IA. The administration of his estate was given to Bridget Koons on 14 Dec 1849. On 22 June 1857 she was referred to as: "Trustee for the family of John Koons, deceased, and as such bought land in Jefferson Co., Iowa, from David and Christian Sears. On 22 June 1867 a suit of Chancery was filed to force a distribution of the estate of John Koons, deceased, and in same the heirs at law of the said John Koons (as of the Oct term 1849 of the District Court in and for the County of Jefferson, Sate of Iowa) were named, they being Rebecca Koons, Dillon Koons, Nancy Caldwell and Gasper Koons as daughters and sons, and Elisa Koons, Martha Koons, Sarah Koons, Henry Koons, William Koons and John A. Koons as grandchildren and children of his deceased sons and Bridget Koons his widow and administrator of the estate of John Koons, deceased." (Deed Book 6, p. 482, Jefferson Co., Iowa) @DWNLNOTE@
