Do not know anything of the Mckenna families now, it must 50 years since I was last in Hobart, they grow up and never know their married names. Of the boys, I think the people you met might have been Philip or Sydney Mckennas children, they could/would be Uncle Christs Gransons, hence the simalarity of christian names.
Would be inclined to think (181) Land Grant would be an original and might be tracable Charles Mckenna Senior also took up land at Longbay/Gordon, it was a small holding. I remember spending time their with my Gramma Catherine Mckenna about 30 Mls down channel. Gramma was a very handsome superior type of LADY, with neatly golden hair, I do not know if they were maried in Ireland. Her brother Thomas McHugo married an English woman also. I think young Charles McKenna (wee) had they property eventually but he had no family so do not know, what became of it.

Text:   Dear Andrea As promised I said I would write after being in Adelaide. We had a very enjoyable holiday, returning in time to mind our Grandchildren during the school holidays, actually only 2 days each week. These times we cherish as "little ones" grow up too fast.
We stayed with Mont & Gaye Howden in Adelaide and visited Ted and Barbara Mahoney. I mentioned that the Howdens had someone visit who was doing the family tree. It was the "Paynter Family tree she was researching. I have enclosed a copy of an extract from a book which Ted Mahoney gave me. He had only the extract not the book. The following are two contact numbers of the Paynter family.
  Sydney Paynter
23 Ennis Street, Eaton Westrn Australia
Ph: 097251472 (Have to phone, eyesight gone)
Sydney's son is Barry Paynter, Phone 0419971351
The other information I have for you is from Bonnie Kenny, re the pages I gave you reading: Charles Mckenna m Catherine McHugo.
By the followig dates, Charles seems to be the eldest followed by John then Elizabeth. The dates she gave me recently by phone and the chart was done some years ago.
  Charles Mckenna (B: Newtown 1855, D: 1887) m. Mary Macrell 1878
John Phillip Mckenna (B: Newtown 11-01-1857)
 Elizabeth Mckenna (B: 29-07-1858, D: Melbourne 1943) m. Arthur Tulloch 11-09-1885 in Hobart (Newtown)
 Imelda Elizabeth was their 4th child, (Bonnie's mother) B. Hobart 30-12-1890, D. Melbourne 24-11-1992
 m. Morgan Patrick Kenny 17-11-1912 at St Josephs, Hobart. Margaret Therese Mckenna (B: 16-06-1859, D: 14-02-1898)
 Jane Mckenna (B: 27-05-1861) m. Horlock
 Mary Mckenna m. Sexton
Catherine Mckenna (B: Newtown 25-12-1864) m. Arthur Currie
When I go to Bonnies place next time, I'll ask to see the papers and dates, hopefully sort it out properly.
I have enclosed a photo of your Great Grandfather with his mother Mary and his sister Roase. Sorry about my notes of the back of it. I wrote that on a long time ago because i thought my children would not know who was in the photo. You can have it as I have a few more photos of them taken at different times.
We wish you well with the family research, and hope to hear from you when you have an update.
 Sincerely Lola.

Text:   Dear Andy,
How is it going? I have some information for you. Charles was born in Scotland in 1818. When I went to the Mormon church I did some checking up and was able to use the computer. They have a program called Family Search. Through that I was able to go into Family Link which is Tasmanian Families 1803-1899. I had a great time searching and came up with some interesting things. I am going back to recheck some stuff, that I missed and am hoping will fill in some blanks. Anyhow here is what eventuated. I will try and write as to what came up on the screen, with a added note also.
Charles Mckenna B 1818 Scotland. No mention of his mother or father.
 m. Catherine McHugo. Didn't have her birthdate or marriage date or place. Also her mother & Father weren't listed. It showed their children. (Am going to do print out next time I go.)
Mary Mckenna B 1853. No place mentioned. Mother & Father weren't listed.
 m. Patrick Sexton. B 1838 Ireland
Children: Mary Sexton, B 23 Sept Hobart Tasmania.
No other children to Patrick & Mary listed.
  Margaret Theresa Mckenna. B 1859 England D 13 Feb 1878 Hobart tas (age 19)
This is a coincidence of the previous date we had. There was no mention of her mother or father.
Christopher Peter Mckenna B 1866 Hobart Tasmania
Mother: Catherine McHugo, Father: Charles Mckenna
M: Mary Jane Lane, 21 Sept 1892, Hobart Tas
Father: Daniel Sydney Lane, Mother: Sarah Ann Bower.
 Children: Charles B: 30 Jan 1893, Hobart
 Kathleen B: 21 Jun 186, Hobart Christopher B 27 Sept 1899, Gordon Tas, D: 2 Nov 1899 Gordon Tas 3 weeks old
Sydney Peter B: 28 Jun 1898 Tas I can't believe the birthdate. I has to be a mistake as we have Christopher B 25 Dec 1863
  John Phillip Mckenna
I couldn't find out anything on him. Nothing on Tas Pioneer Index either. Will check under Mckinnon.
  Elizabeth Mckenna B: 15 Aug 1852, Hobart
 m. Arthur Tulloch 30 Nov 1882, Hobart
 B: 1857, Hobart Tas
Children: Mary Monica B: 11 Sept 1885, Hobart
Imelda B: 30 Dec 1890, Hobart Frances B: 2 Dec 1894, Hobart I don't recall seeing Roberth Arthur and no Charles Tulloch listed.
Jane mary McKenna B: Mar 1861
 m. Hery Charles Horlock (B: 1862) m.4 Dec 1884, Hobart
 Children: Henry charles
Leslie Gordon Rufus Reginald Cecil Vivian B: 9 Jan 1891 Vera Mary Jane Lillian Margaret No mention of Cyril Horlock. All birth dates are same as we have.
  Catherine Mckenna B: 2 Nov 1867, Hobart
Arthur Sauel Watts Currie (B: 24 Apr 1864, Campbell Town Tas) m. 19 Oct 1892, Hobart Tas
Children: Lear B: 23 Sept 1896, Hobart Tas
Andrew Malcolm B: 11 Jul 1898, Clarence Tas Arthur Edward Walter B: 20 Nov 1893, Clarence Amelia B: 25 Jan 1895, Hobart No mention of cissie or Margaret.
Well that's it! As I said at the beginning this info came from Tas link through the Family Search program. I intend going through it all again just in case I missed something, at least I will be double checking dates as I go. Now its LEITRIM in Ireland. Also Roscommon, Ireland, not Roscommon Island, Ireland.
Also Skye in Scotland, is County of Inverness.
I need you to photo copy me Charles Edward Mckenna Birth Certificate (B: 15 Aug 1855 Tas) Also need to know where Catherine McHugo death date came fro D: 15 Jan 1908 Tas.
Could you recheck Barbara Tulloch death date. I have she died in 1976 but no place. Have looked on Vic records & wills & probate but haven't found anything.
Also I need to know where Robert Arthur Tulloch born. Brth date: 3 Jan 1888. Not on Tas index or Vic index. I think that's about it. One more, Ann Mary Mahoney. D 5 Aug 1988, but where.
That should keep you going for a while. I can't find shipping records for Tasmania. Well I will leave you will all of this, hoping to hear from you soon.
  Miss you heaps, love Marilyn
