a. Note:   * Johann August Otto was born in Lemnitz, West Prussia in about 1837 to Martin Otto and Angelis Mute. * He married Pauline Hill/Hell in Behle, West Prussia about 1865. This marriage produce 4 children:- 1.Gustav born 1866 in Lemnitz. He married Annie Davey (born 1871 in Adelaide, Australia) on 30/06/1888 in Brisbane. His niece Ada remembers him as a swagman and sometimes calling in to see them on his travels. He must have fallen on hard times. He had 3 children Arthur Augusta (b. 30/08/1889), Alfred Harland (b. 22/l02/1882) and Charlotte Annie (b. 21/12/1898). 2. Emilie (Amelia) Auguste born 1868 in Lemnitz, Prussia. She married Henry Holden on 29/10/1888 in Toowoomba. They had 8 children Alice Emily (b. 23/12/1890), Annie Ethel (b. 11/03/1892), Emilie Louisa (b. 1/07/1894 at Cawdor), Emma Harriet (b. 3/12/1895), Hilda Marian (b. 23/09/1898 at Highfields), Herbert Henry (b. 28/03/1901 at Toowoomba), Stanely John (b. 21/04/1904 at Toowoomba) and Eric born in 1908. 3. Alvina (Olivia/Nell) born 1870 in Lemnitz, Prussia. She married William John (Captain) Murphy. They had 1 child Hilda. William was an Irish Catholic and Alvina's family so strongly disagreed with the marriage that they disowned her. He was reportedly a ship's captain. 4. Emil August born 1871 in Lemnitz, Prussia. He married Louise Auguste Emilie Trost (b.6/05/1870, Pinnow, Prussia) on 29/01/1896 at the German Lutheran Church at Highfields. They had 4 children Emilie Auguste (Millie) (b. 1/09/1894 at Highfields), Maria Louise (Molly) (b. 18/03/1896), August Frederich (Gus) (b. 29/04/1897) and Theodore Wilhelm (Ted) (b. 7/08/1898). Louise came to Australia in August 1881. Emil and Louisa lived at Cawdor, Queensland. Louisa contracted "Black Measles" and died on Monday 12/12/1898 at Highfields. The following Friday 16/12/1898 her husband Emil died from the same disease. He was buried on the 17/12/1898 at Meringandan. Emil was a farmer. Mrs. Trost Sen. reared the two boys. Mr Herman Trost reared Millie now Mrs. Hery Briskey and Mrs J. F. (Mauda Maria/ Manda) Genrich reared Maria (Molly/Mary) now Mrs. P. Fox. Note for "Black Measles" :- Hemorrhagic measles. A rare, severe, often fatal form of measles in which hemorrhage into the skin lesions and mucous membranes is associated with a sudden rise in temprature, convulsions, delirium, stupor, coma and marked respiratory distress. * Pauline died between 1871 and 1873 in Prussia. Johanne married Maria (Schilolinsky/Schiloginska [Queensland Birth Indexes]/ Zindinska [death indexes]/ Zillinska [german sources]) about 1873 in Lemnitz, Prussia. * They had 3 children:- 1.Adolf born 1875 in Lemnitz. He married Maria Polzin in 1898. 2. Max Friedrich Carl born 10/07/ 1878 on board the "Lammershagen" on voyage to Australia. He married Caroline Otilga (Ottilie/Tilly) Patzwald on 10/04/1902. They had 7 children Theodore August (b. 17/03/1903), Sophia Louise (b. 29/03/1904), Frederick (Nugget) (b. 1906), Herb (b. 1908/9), Gladys Hilda (b. 2/02/1911), Cliff and Dorean/Dawn (b. ?/01/1918). 3. Emma Mathilda Ottilie born 12/04/1881 in Cawder, Queensland. She married Peter August (Tyson) Spies on 19/02/1906. They had 3 children. Ettie May, Jeneth Isobel (b. 20/6/1909) and Evelyn (b. 1/05/1911. Emma died on 15/10/1957. * The family left Hamburg on board the "Lammershagen" on the 4th April 1878. They arrived in Moreton Bay on the 6th August 1878 and went into quarantine at Peel Island. * The passenger list lists them as "Free Passengers". Johann Aug. Otto, 40. Maria Otto, 34. Gustav Otto, 12. Emilie Otto, 10. Olivine Otto, 8. Emil Otto, 7. Adolph Otto, 2 and 1/2. Max Otto, born on voyage. * They settled on the Darling Downs at the German Settlement of Highfields. * Johann was naturalized and Australian on 8/01/1886 at Meringandan, Queensland. * Johann died on the 14/02/1905 and was buried the next day at the Geham/Cabarlah cemetery. He was 68. Maria died in 1886 and was buried on the 27/07/1886 at the Geham/Cabarlah cemetery. Has notes.
